Indium is a metallic element with the symbol In and atomic number 49, located in the IIIA family of the fifth cycle of the periodic table. Its elemental substance is a silver white metal with a slight hint of light blue, which is very soft and can be scratched with nails. Strong plasticity, ductility, and can be compressed into sheets. Metal indium is mainly used as a raw material for manufacturing low melting alloys, bearing alloys, semiconductors, and electric light sources.
