Calcium fluoride is the main component of fluorite, also known as fluorite, with the chemical formula CaF2. It is a colorless cubic crystal or white powder. The relative density is 3.18, the melting point is 1423 ºC, and the boiling point is about 2500 ºC. The solubility in water is extremely low, with only 0.0016g dissolved in 100g of water at 18 ºC. It is insoluble  but soluble in sulfuric acid,and ammonium salt solutions

The uses of calcium fluoride mainly include the following aspects:
1.Aluminum smelting: Calcium fluoride as an additive to bauxite, can control the melting point and increase the yield of aluminum.
2.Metallurgical industry: Calcium fluoride can be used as a flux and slag in the steel and casting industry, which can effectively reduce the oxidation rate and melting point of metals.
3.Ceramics, glass and glazes: Calcium fluoride can be used as raw materials for ceramics and glass to increase their hardness and transparency, and in products such as glazes and reflective finish paints.
4.Chemical industry: Calcium fluoride is used in the production of chemicals such as fluoride and fluorocarbons.
5.Semiconductors, electronics, optics and pharmaceuticals: Calcium fluoride can also be used for material preparation in these fields.
