Calcium bromide is an inorganic salt with the molecular formula CaBr2. It is colorless oblique needle crystal or crystal block, odorless, salty and bitter taste. The relative density is 3.353 (25°C). Very soluble in water, neutral in aqueous solution, soluble in ethanol, aceton-e and acid, slightly soluble in methan-ol and liquid ammoni-a, insoluble in ether or chlorofo-rm. Can form double salts with alkali metal halides.

Application
It is used as a central nervous system inhibitor in medicine, for oil drilling, for the manufacture of ammonium bromide, photosensitive paper, fire extinguishing agent and refrigerant
